Sightseeing & Food
Atlanta is known as the "Capital of the South". With its unique cuisine, antebellum scenery, and local flair (not to mention
the accents!), you'll be sure to find all sorts of fun things to do. Enjoy!
Uniquely Atlanta Restaurants
Sweet Auburn BBQ is one of the best-loved BBQ joints in all of Atlanta.
You can get BBQ with all of the "fixins", including cornbread, collard
greens, and grits.
South City Kitchen is the premier southern dining destination in
all of Atlanta. A little pricier, but here you can get true Southern
foods; such as fried green tomatoes, piemento cheese and crackers, and
geechee-style shrimp.
Front Page News is where Atlantans go to get their taste of New
Orleans. All things Creole and Cajun abound here, including po' boys,
gumbo, and jambalaya.
The Vortex is "an orgy for your tastebuds", as their slogan states.
This tongue-in-cheek restaurant is off-kilter and known for their killer
burgers. Note: 21+ years only.
Thumbs Up Diner is a local breakfast/brunch establishment. Their
famous "Skillet Heap" serves up your breakfast on a cast iron skillet
with spuds, eggs, and a lot of melted cheddar jack cheese.
The Flying Biscuit Cafe is an Atlanta breakfast/brunch staple. Be
warned that the line can be long, as people in Atlanta really do love
their weekend brunches.
Woody's Cheesesteaks are next to Piedmont Park in Midtown and this
little shack makes the best cheesesteak in town! This tiny house is small,
but it's just more of a reason to get your food to go and eat somewhere
in the park.
