Nicolas & Iesha

07.07.2018

Happy couple

The groom

Nicolas Villanueva

Nicolas Mathew Villanueva was born in San Antonio, Texas on July 29, 1989 to Diana Reyna and Robert Villanueva. As the middle brother of Lauren and Bobby, Nick developed a wicked sense of humor that he continues to hone at the expense of dear friends and family.

He grew up in Texas, New Jersey, and Arizona. He graduated from Georgia Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science degree in Discrete Mathematics in 2011. His hobbies include 3-D printing, escaping puzzle rooms, cuddling with Peaches and Hex, playing tabletop RPGs, and all things software development.

The bride

Iesha White

Iesha Brianna-Marie White was born in Ipswich, England on December 28, 1991 to Lynette White. As the third of eight children, Iesha was often a ringleader in playing with her siblings (but honestly, she's just bossy).

She grew up in south metro Atlanta, living in Clayton and Fayette counties. After high school, Iesha attended Boston University, graduating in 2014 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations. Her hobbies include singing Baroque classical music, cooking as many ethnic cuisines as possible, cuddling with Peaches and Hex, getting lost in foreign countries, and all things international affairs.

The furbabies

Peaches & Hex

Peaches is a teacup Chihuahua that is incredibly cute and even more feisty. She is hilariously dependent on her mom and dad to pick her up and carry her around where she wants to go.

Hex is a domestic shorthair cat that Iesha got without asking Nick first. He enjoys pouncing on Peaches and seeing how sneakily he can jump on things (he's clumsy, so not sneaky at all).

Our love story

First Encounter

July 2, 2014

We first met during a dinner we had with a mutual friend (now a bridesmaid) at a local pasta place. We hit it off and rather rudely forgot there was a third person at the table. The dinner lasted a few hours, and we can't thank Nicole enough for having to put up with us!

Our First Date

July 17, 2014

Nick nervously asked Iesha out to a dinner after work at Radial Cafe down the road. Seeing as she was still in HR, this was a covert operation with the utmost discretion. We enjoyed a fantastic meal and talked with one another until the place closed down. 10/10 would do again.

Proposal

April 8, 2017

After holding onto the ring for some time, Nick waited for the opportune moment to get down on one knee in the kitchen of Lynette's (Iesha's Mom) house. With her family members around, everyone congratulated the newly engaged couple on their happy occasion.

Wedding Information

Atlanta

If you're visiting Atlanta for the first time, welcome! We're so excited for you to be a part of our special day!

Atlanta is known as the "Capital of the South". With its unique cuisine, antebellum scenery, and local accent, you'll be sure to find all sorts of fun things to do.

Tip #1: The average temperature in Atlanta during July is easily 90°F/32°C and is extremely humid. Pack accordingly, and don't forget sunscreen!

Tip #2: If you are coming from overseas, it may be cheaper to fly into New York City or Boston, have a brief stopover, and then connect on to Atlanta.

Tip #3: We recommend getting around Atlanta and the surrounding areas via Uber or rental car, as you cannot hail taxies on streets and the transit system is not comprehensive.

Lodging

We have arranged a reserve block of rooms at the Four Seasons Atlanta, which is 1-2 blocks from the venue.

If you would like to reserve a room, please click here .

In the "Check Rates & Availability" box on the right, look for "Corporate/Promo Code" underneath the guest count. Here, enter code WV072018 and you will be directed to the special discounted room rate.

Room rates are available from July 5 - July 11. Room rates start at $175 per night and are valid to book until June 7, 2018. After June 7, room rates will be as advertised on the site and our code will not be honored.

The Four Seasons is valet parking only. There are independent lots adjacent to the hotel if you would prefer to self-park.

Travel

The closest airport is Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, located 11 miles south of midtown Atlanta. There are several rental car services available at the airport.

Alternatively, there are a few ways to get to Midtown Atlanta from Hartsfield-Jackson:

MARTA - Atlanta's Subway

The airport has an embedded MARTA station that connects to midtown Atlanta. It is easy to use and saves time and money compared to the taxistand.

Domestic Travelers - follow signs to "Baggage Claim". Once you arrive in Baggage Claim, keep following signs for "Ground Transportation" and you will see signs for MARTA.

International Travelers - After reclaiming luggage, exit to curbside and look for "International Shuttle" stop. Board shuttle and get off at Domestic Terminal South. Enter airport and follow signs to MARTA.

Once you enter the MARTA station, there are kiosks to buy a Breeze Card to tap in and out. If you have any questions, ask a uniformed attendant for help! Once you tap in, follow signs for a Northbound train (either North Springs or Doraville, it doesn't matter). On average, it's a 25 minute trip from Airport to Midtown Arts Center. From Midtown Arts Center, you can either walk five minutes to the Four Seasons or call an Uber/Lyft.

Taxi/Lyft/Uber
For Taxi - The taxi stands at the Hartsfield-Jackson Airport are located near the baggage claim areas in all terminals. You should expect to pay flat fees to downtown ($30), Midtown ($32), or Buckhead ($38). Metered rates for destinations outside the business districts are $2.50 for the first 1/8 mile and 25 cents for each additional 1/8 mile.

For Lyft - we do not recommend using Lyft for pickups from the airport since they do not have a legal dedicated pickup area.

For Uber - Uber is a Hartsfield-Jackson rideshare partner.
Domestic Travelers - Once you arrive in Baggage Claim and reclaim your luggage, follow signs to "South Terminal" - South Terminal is marked in all airport signage in red. You will need to head to the level below in South Terminal - there are escalators and elevators located between the doors to outside labeled S2 and S3, and again between doors labeled S5 and S6. Once you descend, exit to curbside. This is the designated area for Uber pickups.
International Travelers - Pickup is from the international terminal curbside.

Sightseeing & Food

Atlanta is known as the "Capital of the South". With its unique cuisine, antebellum scenery, and local flair (not to mention the accents!), you'll be sure to find all sorts of fun things to do. Enjoy!

Uniquely Atlanta Restaurants

Sweet Auburn BBQ is one of the best-loved BBQ joints in all of Atlanta. You can get BBQ with all of the "fixins", including cornbread, collard greens, and grits.

South City Kitchen is the premier southern dining destination in all of Atlanta. A little pricier, but here you can get true Southern foods; such as fried green tomatoes, piemento cheese and crackers, and geechee-style shrimp.

Front Page News is where Atlantans go to get their taste of New Orleans. All things Creole and Cajun abound here, including po' boys, gumbo, and jambalaya.

The Vortex is "an orgy for your tastebuds", as their slogan states. This tongue-in-cheek restaurant is off-kilter and known for their killer burgers. Note: 21+ years only.

Thumbs Up Diner is a local breakfast/brunch establishment. Their famous "Skillet Heap" serves up your breakfast on a cast iron skillet with spuds, eggs, and a lot of melted cheddar jack cheese.

The Flying Biscuit Cafe is an Atlanta breakfast/brunch staple. Be warned that the line can be long, as people in Atlanta really do love their weekend brunches.

Woody's Cheesesteaks are next to Piedmont Park in Midtown and this little shack makes the best cheesesteak in town! This tiny house is small, but it's just more of a reason to get your food to go and eat somewhere in the park.

Local Atlanta Attractions

Atlanta City Pass is THE BEST way to experience Atlanta in a weekend. It includes 5 attractions (most within 2 blocks of one another) for a heavily discounted price:

  1. Georgia Aquarium: A must see! Their MASSIVE displays include whales, sharks, and penguins! The dolphins perform a fun show twice a day.
  2. World of Coke: Stone's throw away from the Aquarium, take a tour of the World of Coke, including all-you-can-drink access in the global tasting room!
  3. CNN Studio Tours: Visit a tour of the studio. Call ahead to reserve a timeslot for the day
  4. Zoo Atlanta or Center for Civil And Human Rights: While the zoo is a short drive away, the CCHR is less than 1 block from the above attractions.
    • Whether you’re looking for behind-the-scenes Wild Encounters, a leisurely stroll through The Ford African Rain Forest or a Scaly Slimy Spectacular experience, Zoo Atlanta offers something for everyone. So what are you waiting for?
    • The CCHR is a moving, powerful museum dedicated to documenting the struggle for rights worldwide. Martin Luther King called Atlanta home, and you can find many of his original diaries and speeches here.
  5. College Football Hall of Fame or Fernbank Museum of Natural History: While Fernbank is a short drive away, the College Football Hall of Fame is less than 1 block from the above attractions.
    • Fernbank has dinosaurs and fossils galore, enough said!
    • College Football Hall of Fame has three floors, five galleries, and over 50 interactive exhibits, this is a must-see for any football fan.

Stone Mountain Park is a Georgia State Park that has all sorts of fun activities from amphibian water tours to a dazzling nightly laser show. The view from on top is breathtaking and shows why Atlanta is known as the city in a forest.

Atlanta Botanical Garden has beautiful trees, flowers, and waterfalls as art exhibits that will take your breath away. A must-see in Atlanta.

Piedmont Park is a beautiful park in the middle of Midtown. With its open areas, you would be remiss to not spend an hour or two taking a stroll through this amazing Atlanta greenery.

Just For Kids

Andretti Go-Karting and Games is seriously awesome. Go-Karts, games, ziplines, and more! Great for kids (and adults too)! Be warned it's about a 30 minute drive north of Atlanta.

LegoLand Atlanta is a super fun place for kids ages 3-10! With rides, 10 LEGO play zones, and a 4D cinema, it's sure to be a blast.

Center for Puppetry Arts is an amazing museum in Midtown for both kids and their parents as you'll get to see puppets (and Muppets) up close. Muppets, you say?? That's right! This museum was founded by Jim Henson and includes a lot of his original puppets. From Sesame Street to Fraggle Rock, The Dark Crystal to the Muppet Show, they've got it all!
